Mitchell & Ness In 1961, the Minnesota Twins became the first team to use the name of their statehood to identify their team. The Twins, who were originally the Washington Senators, wanted to appease the fans from both Twin Cities, St. Paul and Minneapolis. The Twins played their home games in a newly refined Metropolitan Stadium, which was located near the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Originally built for the Minneapolis Millers of the American Association, the stadium hosted the 1965 All Star Game. After leading the American League in homeruns in 1962-1964, Harmon Killebrew powered the Twins to their first American League Pennant before losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a hard fought World Series that went a full seven games....
